Mobile World Congress highlights: Huawei P10, P10 Plus and Watch 2 launched

After the launch of BlackBerry KEYone and LG G6,Huawei has launched the dual-camera P10 with 4.5G LTE technology along with the new Watch 2 that supports a SIM card as well.

At MWC 2017, Huawei will take another step in making smarter and better camera phones with the launch of the P10. Other than that, we have no info on any other devices. But there is a strong rumour that Huawei might launch its next wearable Huawei Watch 2 too.

Here are the live updates directly from the event in Barcelona:

7:50 PM: P10 and P10 Plus will be launched in many countries. The 4GB+64GB edition will come for ‎€649 euros. The 4GB+64 GB P10 Plus will come for ‎€699 euros and the 6GB+128 GB will come for ‎€799 euros. The Watch 2 4G edition will come for ‎€379 euros and the Bluetooth edition will come for ‎€329 euros. The Watch 2 Classic willl come for ‎€399 euros.

7:48 PM: David Singleton of Google comes to stage. The new Watch 2 will support Android Pay as well. The Watch 2 will support Google Assistant as well. The Watch will also have an app store thanks to Android Wear 2.0.

7:41 PM: The Watch, which weighs 57 grammes, will come with the option of a e-SIM/nano-SIM card slot just like the iRist from Intex. The watch has built-in GPS, heart rate sensor and water and dust resistant (IP68) capabilities.

7:40 PM: Huawei now moves to launch the new generation Huawei Watch 2. The watch will come in two variants -- Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic. The Watch will come with a ceramic surface and a dual-crown design. The Watch also supports 4G LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

7:38 PM: The P10 will also have knucle split screen that will allow users to work on multiple windows. One-Step actions that allow users to share photos or videos are also included.

7:33 PM: The P10 will run EMUI 5.1 with Android Nougat at the base. EMUI 5.0 has now 12 million active users after four months of launch. EMUI 5.1 comes with automatic video creator from photos just like memories in an Apple iPhone.

7:30 PM: P10s to come with Ultra memory technology that helps the phone to use less memory while achieving faster action speeds. Simply put, use less RAM to execute apps and functions. The P10 will also come with fast charging. Again a dig at iPhone 7 for battery sizes used by Apple. Huawei claims that the P10 will exist for at least 1.5 days on a single charge depending on usage.

7:26 PM: The new phones will come with dual-SIM and hybrid microSD slot that will support up to 256GB. The phone will come with a Kirin 960 processor. The 960 is expected to be 30% faster than its predecessor.

7:22 PM: The P10 and P10 Plus is the first 4.5G-LTE smartphone. The phone will come with two antennas to improve connectivity. The download speed is expected to increase two times.

7:21 PM: A Leica photographer takes to stage the Leica lenses used in the P10.

7:13 PM: The P10 also has a potrait mode just like the iPhone 7 Plus. The front camera also has f1.9 aperture for low-light performance. Huawei this time has put Leica lens in its front shooter too. The front camera also comes with 'Adaptive Selfie' mode to click better groupies. This is the first front camera with Leica lens.

7: 09 PM: The P10 also comes with a professional camera mode that lets users alter white balance, exposure and more. There is also a dual-LED flash. The dual-camera setup allows to shoot Bokeh effects. The camera can also capture 4K videos.

7:07 PM: Huawei moves to camera. The P10 also has the Leica lenses just like its predecessor P9. Huawei showcases Vogue black and white photos changed into colour using the P10. The phone will come with f1.8 aperture, optical image stabilisation, 20-megapixel and 12-megapixel rear camera lenses along with hybrid auto-focus.

7:06 PM: Huawei seems obsessed with colour. The P10 will come in at least five colours with matching themes.

7: 05: PM: Huawei takes another dig at iPhone. P10 and P10 Plus to come in the same size of Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The phones will pack more battery. The P10 will come with 2,900 mAh battery and the Plus will come with 3,750 mAh battery. Huawei executive clearly says Huawei technology is better than Apple.

7:00 PM: Huawei P10 will come with 2.5D arched Corning Gorilla Glass 5 blended with metal body. The P10 will also come with a home button that will double up as a fingerprint sensor. The home button will act as the back button as well just like we saw with Meizu's smartphones.The phone also has no camera bump. The P10 also has a larger display than its predecessor.

6:51 PM: The P10 might also come in Green colour. A shade of Blue is also on the cards.

6.40 PM: Huawei to launch P10 and P10 Plus. A top executive is talking about design. He says it is made out of metal. The P10 comes with diamond-cut finishing. Compares the phone to Aplle iPhone 7's matte black and jet black, says no the P10 has a scratch-less surface. Phone to come with colours -- Graphite Black, White and Rose Gold and Mystic Silver.

However, if a video put out by Huawei in its official YouTube channel is to be believed, then Huawei is going to focus on cloud, 5G, video and obviously the launch of P10.
