Cable TV is slowly fading away and giving way to set top boxes that are getting modified day by day. Joining the revolution is Airtel's Digital TV HD Recorder that comes 3D Ready for a virtual reality experience.

With high-end picture and sound quality, a universal remote, much better features and maximum channels, it leaves the customer intrigued and satisfied. The new recorder could be a lethal answer to its competitors with its pros.

An easy and carefree installation process winds up in no time, thanks to well-equipped engineers followed by an instant activation of the channels. The set top box (STB) and the universal remote provide unique features such as remote recording, automatic favourites, search, genre and category sort, unlike others.

To the consumer's surprise, there is also a Digital Dolby Plus 7.1 feature that provides a benefit of surround sound system. For re-runs of one's favourite content, the STB comes with an inbuilt 320GB hard disk that allows up to 550 hours of recording.

A slow motion feature allows watching any recorded content in slow motion while hardware wise, the ports allow to connect the STB to HDTV and a home theatre.

The other feature that makes it a best buy is its 3D compatibility — all it needs is a 3D TV and 3D stereoscopic glasses for a literal out-of-the-box experience.

Unlike its competition in the market, an internal memory allows the recorder to remember the last viewed channel when powered on. One drawback, however, is that there is no inbuilt fan in the box to allow it to release excess heat.

As for the pricing, new customers can get it for 4,890 with two months of free Economy Sports Pack, inclusive of installation charges while existing customers can bag the deal at 3,990. On the whole, affordable monthly subscription options and a decent service support make it one of the best buys in the market. The clarity and sound convert TV watching into an experience of owning a mini silver screen.
