Serious Game Interactive, a game developer from Denmark has come under fire for it's potrayal of slavery in a video game. The 'Slave Tetris' section of the game has been pulled down off the internet after provoking a racism storm.

The so-called educational game dubbed "Playing History: Slave Trade" asks players to stack as many slaves onto a slave ship, in the same way players have to fit blocks into spaces while playing Tetris.

The firm's CEO Simon Egenfeldt-Nielsen, said the game was intended to showcase the horrors of slavery, but after receiving the ire of the Internet realized his execution was ill advised.

"I should of course know how this would have played out," he said. "My naivety will be my doom."

The video game is still available on Steam, but the Tetris portion has been removed. In a statement, the game's designers apologized for the game's offense. "Slave Tetris has been removed as it was perceived to be extremely insensitive by some people.

This overshadowed the educational goal of the game. Apologies to people who was offended by us using game mechanics to underline the point of how inhumane slavery was."
