In space, astronauts encounter reduced levels of gravity. This near-weightlessness can have a number of abnormal effects, such as causing muscle and bone loss.
"We seek to unveil cellular mechanisms related to infectious disease progression that cannot be observed on Earth, and to translate our findings to strategies for treatment," said Cheryl Nickerson of Arizona State varsity.
