The Indian music scene is going through a transition. Not just in terms of international musicians teaming up with Indian artists, but also big music labels churning out innovative ways to tap the large consumer base.

Gone are the days when LPs, cassettes and CDs used to adorn the walls of musc stores. The new-age music gurus are introducing cool accessories to woo youngsters. Take the much talked-about songs of the movie, Blue, for instance. The soundtrack, besides being released on CDs, was also made available on pen drives and micro chips. Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, the label behind the concept, feels the digital platform is the way to the future. "The world is going digital.

Among the many benefits of the digital music launch, the most
significant one [for us as a music label] is being able to give consumers legitimate content. It also helps in
curbing piracy," he says. Oscar winner AR Rahman, who's composed the music for the film, too, finds the trend "fantastic". "It's a great idea.

I was very excited when I learnt about the digital release of Blue's music. Anything new is exciting, and those who believe in owning legitimate music would be excited by this product. This trend also opens gates for future expansions. But one must ensure that the sound is of the highest quality," he says.

That's not all. Skullcandy US, a company that deals in funky music accessories, has recently launched trendy, colourful bass-thumping headphones in India. What better can to headbang to your favourtie band! It's time to give in to the technological onslaught.
