Telegram update lets you hide movie spoilers, translate message, react and more

Telegram update brings several new features such as message translation, reactions and themed QR codes.

Telegram has got a couple of new features with the latest update.

Telegram has just released an update for its users on the occasion of New Years. In its 12th update, the Telegram app brings a couple of new features to make the texting experience interesting. The new features include reactions, message translation, themed QR codes, and hidden text (spoilers).

The Telegram update 12 is rolling out to users on Android and iOS devices. You can download the update via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Reactions

Users can now react to a specific message with emojis without even sending a new message. Each reaction appears with its own unique animation. The Reactions are available in private chats while groups also get the feature only when group admins allow. Admins can control reactions via their group or channel's Info Page > Edit > Reactions.

Users can change the default reaction to another emoji in Settings. Android: Chat Settings > Quick Reaction. iOS: Stickers and Emoji > Quick Reaction.

Message Translation

Users can translate any message into another language from within the app. The translation feature is available on all Android devices and iPhones running on iOS 15 and newer versions. Note that the translation is available on as many languages as the number present on OS.

You can enable translation in Settings > Language. This will add a dedicated Translate button to the context menu while selecting a message.

Spoilers

Telegram has introduced Spoiler Messages – a feature that allows a user to hide a certain portion of the text. Users will need to use the ‘Spoiler' formatting for the same. The “spoiler” message won't be visible in the chat list and notifications, unless you tap on it.

Themed QR Codes

Users can now share a stylized version of their themed QR codes to share with the world. One can Tap the new QR code icon next to the username of a person (or from a chat's info page), choose the colours and pattern that fit best, then print, post or share their QR codes to other apps and platforms.

Menus for macOS

Telegram users on macOS now get a new contextual menus containing some new shortcut hints. All the menu items get animations as well.

Some of the more popular emojis on Telegram have been animated with this update.
