Launched earlier this year, Xiaomi's Redmi Note 4 is one of the top-selling smartphones in India. With more than two million shipments in the second quarter of this year, the Redmi Note 4 was the most shipped smartphone in a single quarter in the history of the Indian smartphone market, according to a study by research firm IDC.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 sports a 5.5-inch full HD display. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of built-in storage.

The Redmi Note 4 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The smartphone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (4GB + 64GB) is available on Flipkart with a discount of 2,000, bringing down the price from 12,999 to 10,999.

Moto G5 Plus

Price: 12,999

Motorola's Moto G-series phones are known for their solid build quality and consistent software experience. The Moto G5 Plus, which launched in India in earlier this year, is available between 12,999 and 13,999 on Amazon.in.

The smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch full HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It runs Android Nougat out-of-the-box and is powered by Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 32GB of built-in storage.

It sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual auto-focus and a 5-megapixel front camera. The phone is powered by a 2,800mAh battery. Other key features of the smartphone include a fingerprint scanner, metal body and dual-SIM (4G+4G) support.

If you increase your budget by 1,000 approximately, you can consider the Moto G5S Plus, an updated version of the Moto G5 Plus. The Moto G5S Plus, which debuted in India in August this year, comes with dual 13-megapixel rear cameras, 8-megapixel front camera and a relatively larger 3,000mAh battery.

Xiaomi A1

Price: 14,999

Xiaomi's A1 is based on Google's Android One programme, which essentially means the smartphone will receive all the major Android updates in the future, and on the same day as the Google Pixel and Nexus devices. This also means the phone is eligible for regular security patches from Google.

The Xiaomi A1 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display. It runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat out-of-the-box and is powered by Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of built-in storage.

It comes with dual 12-megapixel rear cameras and a 5-megapixel front-camera. Other important features of the phone include a fingerprint scanner, 3,080mAh battery, 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM support and VoLTE.

If you are looking for a smartphone with day-long battery life under 15,000, you can consider the Lenovo K8 Note. The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display. It runs Android Nougat out-of-the-box and is scheduled to receive Android Oreo update. The phone is powered by a 64-bit 2.3GHz MediaTek deca-core Helio X23 processor coupled with 3GB/4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of built-in storage.

Huawei's Honor 8 is one of the best smartphones under 15,000 at the moment. The smartphone originally launched at a price of 29,999 but is now available for 14,999 on Flipkart.

The Honor 8 comes with a 5.2-inch full HD display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by Huawei's propriety Kirin 950 octa-core processor built on 16nm architecture coupled with 4GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB of built-in storage.

The smartphone sports dual 12-megapixel cameras at the back and has an 8-megapixel front camera. Key features of the smartphone include fingerprint scanner, 3,000mAh battery and built-in Infrared (IR) sensor.

Honourable mentions

If you are not really keen on having top-of-the-line specifications but want a good looking design without compromising much on performance, you can consider the Nokia 6. The smartphone is available online for 14,999.

But if you want a phone that has flagship smartphones-level specifications, you can consider the Coolpad Cool Play 6. This phone comes with massive 6GB of RAM and 4,060mAh battery.
