Samsung's Corby can give most affordable touchscreen handsets a run for their money with its big brand image and funky styling coupled with a host of relevant features. Its 2.8-inch capacitive (multi-touch) touchscreen features a 240 x 320 pixel resolution which may seem a little low considering the display size.
The tapering design is brilliant. It gives the handset a very sleek look without losing that simplicity in its design. What we didn't like were the rather gaudy, interchangeable rear panels. The colours are way too bright as well.
Corby supports EDGE and GPRS for Internet connectivity and Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and USB 2.0. The widgets provided will allow the regular social networker to stay connected with their online friends though Facebook, MySpace, Orkut and Twitter. From an alarm clock, a loud speakerphone, photo contacts, converter, calculator, stopwatch, a dictionary and more, the Corby is quite loaded. As usual, Samsung has also packed in many games. Unfortunately, they're mostly 'try and buy' demo versions.
What's truly remarkable about this handset is its camera. The basic, 2 MP camera is fantastic for a handset of its price. The battery life of the Corby is one more feature that makes the handset a good buy.
