Twitter briefly restricts Amul's account, company responds
Amul's Twitter account was restricted for sometime without any clarification provided on the action.
Twitter temporarily restricted Amul's account which goes by the handle “Amul.coop”. Twitter did not provide any specific reason as to why it restricted the account other than its routine response of detecting unusual activity.
Twitter has restored Amul's account and users can view it now. R S Sodhi, Amul's Managing Director has sought a reply from Twitter on why Amul's account was restricted and without informing them, TOI reported.
“Safety and security of the accounts is a key priority for us and to ensure an account has not been compromised sometimes we require the account owner to complete a simple reCAPTCHA process. These challenges are simple for authentic account owners to solve, but difficult (or costly) for spammy or malicious account owners to complete. Once the account clears this security step the account regains full access. To protect the accounts we routinely require them to clear this security key for login verification,” a Twitter spokesperson told Hindustan Times.
Twitter users however are of the opinion that Amul's account was restricted due to its latest creative. Amul regularly publishes creatives based on what's happening in India and sometimes globally too. The one it has now highlights the ongoing trend among Indians to boycott Chinese products.
#Amul Topical: About the boycott of Chinese products... pic.twitter.com/ZITa0tOb1h

It features the Amul girl stopping the symbolic Chinese dragon with the logo of TikTok behind it. On the Amul girl's side there's the Indian flag and a logo of Snapdeal. The creative also highlights Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent initiative to go local (Atma Nirbhar).
“Amul Butter girl comments on all trending issue, it is like news. She tells you the mood of the nation. She does not even promote the Amul products, she comments on issues around the world and she has been doing it for so many years, we don't know why would someone file a complaint against her,” Republic World quoted Sodhi as saying.
Amul's Twitter account is working fine now and it has also pinned the tweet with its new creative on its profile.
