Superman and The Flash face off before Batman and Solomon Grundy confront each other in 14 minutes of footage from DC Comics fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Mortal Kombat veteran Ed Boon brought an early version of the game to the EVO Fighting Game Championships, which ran July 6-8, resulting in 14 minutes of demonstration video uploaded to YouTube by IGN.

Superman, a power-based character, tangles with the speedy, gadget-using Flash in the murky confines of the Batcave.

Batman, on the other hand, another gadget user with batarangs and grappling hooks to hurl, must see off the hulking powerhouse Solomon Grundy at Superman's towering city HQ, the Fortress of Solitude.

In addition to the appeal of fighting with DC Comics' stable of characters are extendable arenas and environmental weaponry.

The Flash tampers with the Batmobile to unleash a barrage of rockets onto Superman; Supes punches the Scarlet Speedster through a command console, into a lift and, at one point, high into orbit.

Batman and his foe Grundy are likewise adept at hurling opponents toward new parts of a stage -- from the city streets up onto rooftops and back down through skyscraper floors, pounding cars on heads or causing them to explode with well-timed detonations.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is to launch in 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and WiiU; before then, Marvel vs Capcom: Origins arrives as a September download for the 360 and PS3.
