Android users very often have devices with inferior display, especially if they are cheaper smartphones. On these devices the Dark Mode looks dark grey or dark green at best and nothing comparable to how it looks on iOS.

It took a while for WhatsApp's Dark Mode to roll out on Android. Arriving first for iPhone users and then finally to the Android ecosystem in March this year, this is one of the most-awaited feature updates on the messaging platform. However, it seems that the iPhone users got the better deal.

Most of the newer iPhones use the OLED display and thus could get a better look at the Dark Mode with the inky blacks. Android users have missed out on that because some devices do not have great displays. However, WhatsApp is working on a fix for that.

According to WABetaInfo, Facebook is working on some changes in the Dark Mode to elevate how it looks on the Android app.

One of the features they are looking into is swapping the solid green colour on the chat bubbles with a more transparent alternative.

WABetaInfo also predicts that this change of colour might be the first of the many changes WhatsApp could be bringing in for optimising the experience for Android users.
