Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite launch: Full specifications, features, and more

Xiaomi Mi A2 is the successor to the last year’s popular Mi A1 smartphone. The smartphone will run on stock Android with minor customisations instead of MIUI ROM that powers other Xiaomi phones.

Xiaomi will unveil the successor to the popular Mi A1 in Spain on Tuesday. The new smartphone runs on stock Android as part of Google's Android One platform. Xiaomi is also going to launch a stripped down version of the new smartphone, dubbed as Mi A2.

Ahead of the official launch, Xiaomi has posted a bunch of teasers on Twitter to reveal a few details about the smartphone. The company has hinted that Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite will be available in pink and blue colour options as well as they will run on stock Android v8.1 (Oreo). The Android One programme ensures the phones receive the future Android OS updates and security patches released by Google on the same day they're rolled out.

Another big element of the two new phone is going to be the dual-rear camera setup. It may be recalled that the Mi A1 also came with a dual-rear camera setup. The latest versions will have a telephoto lens for optical zoom and will allow users to take portrait mode photos.

Xiaomi Mi A2 is likely to be rebranded version of Xiaomi Mi 6X phone which launched in China earlier this year. The Mi A2 is expected to come with 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the phone will run a Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with 3GB/4GB of RAM.

In the photography department, Xiaomi Mi A2 will feature 12-megapixel and 20-megapixel sensors and a 20-megapixel front-facing camera. Other expected features of the phone include Artificial Intelligence-integration, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C among others.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is expected to come with a smaller 5.84-inch full HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio. It is expected to come with a slightly lesser Snapdragon 625 processor coupled 3GB of RAM and up to 64GB built-in storage. Rest of the specifications of the phone is expected to be same as the Mi A2's.
