Third-generation Apple AirPods with case leak in an image, here’s what you can expect
The charging case is seen to be less rectangular than what is seen in the case of Airports Pro.
We are still a few months away from seeing next generation Apple AirPods. However, a new image leaked by 52Audio website (via Macrumours) seems to show the announced accessory, dubbed as the third generation AirPods, in full glory. According to the image, we can see both the AirPods case and the earbuds themselves.
In a previous report by Bloomberg, it was mentioned that the upcoming AirPods will take design cues from current AirPods Pro as they will feature a smaller stem and silicone ear tips. However, they will be lacking high-end features such as Active Noise Cancellation. The same design is now shown by the image leaked by 52Audio website.
The charging case is seen to be less rectangular than what is seen in the case of Airports Pro. Also there will be a LED charging indicator at the front. As for the earbuds, in the image we can see them looking similar to AirPods Pro with a shorter stem.
It is also being said that the third generation AirPods may borrow touch controls from the Pro model. We can expect the new earbuds to come with touch control surfaces instead of single or double tap controls, like we have in the current AirPods Pro. Based on previous leaks, the upcoming AirPods are expected to offer similar five hours of continuous audio playback as what we got from the second generation AirPods.
Also mentioned is that Spatial Audio feature, which right now is exclusive to AirPods Pro, can come to the third generation AirPods as well. Analyst Ming Chi Kuo, back in November, said that mass production of the new AirPods will take place sometime in the first half of this year. However, according to 52Audio the new AirPods might launch In the beginning of March.
It is worth mentioning that according to Bloomberg's recent report, Apple might not be holding an event on March 16 as widely speculated. However, it can still hold an event at another date in the same month.
