According to Nvidia, the new discrete GPUs are aimed at affordable gaming laptop models and offer performance twice as fast as previous generations. The company claims that the new RTX powered laptops should be able to run popular games like Minecraft RTX and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War at 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution.

With the arrival of the GeForce RTX 3050 and the RTX 3050 Ti on laptops, the company states that it is bringing its Ampere architecture featuring dedicated RT and Tensor Cores to its “most mainstream audience yet”. It also claims that the RTX 3050 Ti laptops will use NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency Mode to support 144+ frames per second and low latency rates of under 25 ms while playing games like Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege and Valorant.

Nvidia also says that their GeForce RTX GPUs are the only ones that sport customised Tensor Cores for DLSS – a deep learning neural network that boosts frame rates and improves visuals. DLSS has now been optimised for over 40 AAA titles, according to the company, including Outriders, Call of Duty: Warzone, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT and Mortal Shell.

Customers will be able to pick up new GeForce RTX 30 Series laptops in the second half of the year. While pricing will vary, the company says that laptops featuring these graphics cards will start at $799 (or 58,626) from manufacturers including Acer, Alienware, ASUS, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI and Razer.
