Apple iPhone 13 to get a smaller notch, bigger battery, and a 120Hz display

Apple’s 2021 iPhone models have been in the news a lot lately. Reports have detailed that the company could ditch the iPhone 13 naming to opt for the iPhone 12S name instead. Now, a new report gives us a peek as to how Apple’s upcoming smartphone would look like.

As per a GizChina report, the upcoming iPhone 13 or the iPhone 12S will come with thinner bezels compared to older iPhone models, which will be coupled with a smaller notch. This setup would increase the effective screen area for iPhone users.

In addition to this, the upcoming iPhone model is also expected to come with Direct time-of-flight (ToF) technology that will replace the existing Face ID components. This in turn will help in reducing the space required for the notch.

The image shared by the publication indicates that the iPhone 13 will get a bigger battery with a lightning connector, and a laser rangefinder. The upcoming iPhone model will also come with a 120Hz ProMotion screen by Samsung -- a feature that several reports in the past have hinted towards. The report says that Samsung’s LTPO screen will support a refresh rate varying between 1Hz to 120Hz, which in turn will help in conserving the battery better.

Furthermore, the iPhone 13 series is tipped to run on Apple’s A15 chipset that will support up to 1TB of flash storage. As far as biometrics are concerned, several reports in the past have hinted towards the 2021 iPhones featuring support for an in-display fingerprint sensor. Now, the report by the publication states that Apple is expected to include its own fingerprint recognition system in its 2021 iPhones that use reflected light instead of ultrasonic vibration to analyse fingerprints.

That said, Apple hasn’t confirmed anything yet. So, we would take all these reports with a pinch of salt for now.
