Amazon refreshes Fire 7 tablet with faster processor, more storage

Amazon on Friday upgraded its Fire 7 tablet. The new Fire 7 tablet now comes with a faster processor and packs more built-in storage. It is priced at $49.99 ( ₹3,500 approx), and will start shipping from June 6 in the US.

The new Fire 7 tablet comes in four colour options of black, plum, sage and twilight blue. There are two storage options to choose from - 16GB and 32GB which will retail at $69.99 ( ₹4,900 approx). Amazon Fire 7 tablet offers microSD card slot for further storage expansion up to 512GB. The tablet is powered by the same but faster 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM.

Amazon Fire 7 tablet features a 7-inch IPS display with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution. In terms of battery life, the Fire 7 tablet is claimed to offer up to 7 hours of reading, internet browsing, video and audio playback. Amazon is also offering unlimited cloud storage for in-house content purchases.

There's a built-in microphone with support for hands-free Alexa. It sports a 2-megapixel and rear cameras with support for HD (720p) video recording.

Amazon also launched a Kids Edition for Fire 7 which will retail at $99.99 ( ₹7,000 approx). Amazon Fire 7 Kids Edition comes with the same set of specifications as the Fire 7 but with some exclusive features. This tablet comes in bright pink, blue and purple cases. Amazon is also shipping a kid-proof case along with it.
