Xiaomi Mi A2 Android One smartphone to launch in India today: Full specifications, features, more

Xiaomi's second-generation Android One-based smartphone, Mi A2, is set to launch in India on Wednesday. The successor to last year's Mi A2 comes with big improvements, especially in the design and camera departments.

The most noticeable upgrade is the screen which has now transitioned into the contemporary 18:9 aspect ratio with slimmer bezels. Xiaomi Mi A2 sports a 5.99-inch full HD+ display. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with Adreno 512 GPU, 4GB and 6GB RAM. The phone is available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage variants.

As said earlier, Xiaomi Mi A2 has upgraded its camera. While the phone retains the dual-rear camera setup, it now features 12-megapixel Sony IMX 486 sensor with f/1.75 aperture, and 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor. On the front, the phone has a 20-megapixel selfie camera along with flash or "selfie-light". The front camera is also capable of delivering DSLR-like shallow depth-of-field. Another highlight of the smartphone is the stock Android on the phone, thanks to the Android One platform. Apart from Mi A2, Mi A1 and Mi A2 Lite, other Xiaomi phones run on custom MIUI ROM (based on Android). Android One certification also ensures Xiaomi Mi A2 will be among the set of priority phones to receive the latest updates and security patches from Google. For instance, Xiaomi Mi A2 will be eligible for Android Pie whenever Google rolls it out for other phones.

Even though the phone has stock Android, Mi A2 comes with some useful Xiaomi features like Mi Drop, File Manager, and a dedicated feedback button. Another major software element is Google Lens integration, which lets you look up information about an item by just pointing the camera at it.
