Qualcomm QCC5100 Series to get Jacoti optimised hearing assistance

Qualcomm on Monday announced a partnership with audio technology company Jacoti to bring the latter’s hearing enhancement software to its QCC5100 Series ultra-low-power Bluetooth SoCs. The enhancement will be available for true wireless earbuds and Bluetooth headsets. Qualcomm says the integration will help bring better accessibility features and more accurate personalised hearing assistance.

Jacoti’s technology is said to bring a self-administered hearing test that prompts various tones and frequencies to identify the volume threshold for the user. The technology helps create two audiograms that are personalised especially for the user’s right and left ears. The software on the device also helps avert exposures to sounds that can lead to further hearing damage.

That said, Qualcomm’s QCC5100 Series features chips such as QCC5121, QCC5124, QCC5125, QCC5126, QCC5127, QCC5144, and QCC5141. The chipset series is aimed at audio devices, primarily wireless earbuds, headsets, and speakers. The chip also focuses on delivering better battery life and playback time. Qualcomm claims QC100 series can help reduce power consumption by up to 65% for voice calls as well as music streaming.

The series features Bluetooth 5 dual-mode radio and application subsystems. It also supports Qualcomm’s in-house TrueWireles stereo, aptX HD audio, active noise cancellation, voice UI control, and voice assistant.
