Samsung has another Galaxy Unpacked event lined up for August that that’s going to see the Samsung Galaxy Z series launching. Alongside the Galaxy Z series, Samsung is also expected to launch the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active4. Some details about these upcoming smartwatches have already been revealed via the Galaxy Wearable app in the past, but now some more information has surfaced.

According to reports in Money Today, Samsung is going to drop Tizen from the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active4 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch4. The smartwatches are going to run on Wear OS instead of Tizen, as has been rumoured in the past. This is Samsung going back to using Google’s smartwatch platform after a seven-year hiatus. The main reason behind this is the lack of mainstream apps that are available on the Tizen platform. For example, Kakao Talk, a popular instant messaging app in South Korea, does not have an app for the Tizen platform and thus for Samsung Galaxy Watches.

The Money Today report also adds that the new Samsung Galaxy wearables are not going to support non-invasive blood sugar level monitoring, despite speculations doing the round earlier this year. Besides this, the report suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 will be available in 42mm and 46mm dial sizes and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active4 will come in smaller 40mm and 42mm watch sizes. These sizes are different from what’s been tipped by others in the past. Finally, the report adds that as per the Galaxy Wearable app, both the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active4 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 will come in both Bluetooth only and cellular (LTE) variants.
