Sony has some good news for gamers. The company has announced that it is bringing two of its exclusive PlayStation 5 features to its Sony Bravia range of smart TVs. This will enable users of the company’s Bravia TVs to play PlayStation 5 games on a bigger screen with ease.

Sony announced that it is bringing Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode features from its PlayStation 5 gaming consoles to a select range of its Sony Bravia smart TVs. These PlayStation 5 features support frame rates up to 120FPS in 4K resolution as specified in HDMI 2.1 for compatible games. In addition to that, they offer input lag as low as 6.0ms on the Z9J and 8.5ms on the other BRAVIA XR TV models, which the company says enables the gamers to get a smooth experience, especially while playing high-performance games that requires instant on-screen action.

As far as the features are concerned, Sony PlayStation 5’s Auto HDR Tone Mapping feature optimises the HDR settings instantly during PS5 initial setup. As Sony explains it, PS5 will automatically recognize individual BRAVIA XR TV models and select the best HDR setting for the TV accordingly. With the optimised HDR tone mapping level to customers' BRAVIA display specification, they will see crucial details and colors even in high contrast scenes.

Coming to the Auto Genre Picture Mode feature, it enables BRAVIA XR TVs to detect whether users are playing a game or watching movies and shows. With Auto Genre Picture Mode, the TV automatically switches into Game Mode when gaming, which minimizes input lag to make the action more responsive, or to Standard Mode when watching movies via a streaming service or from an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc on the PS5, which shifts focus to picture processing for a more expressive picture.

These newly announced features, that is, Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode, are available in BRAVIA XR TV models, which includes Z9J, A90J, A80J, X95J and X90J. These Bravia XR TV models are designed to work with PS5. Sony says that these updates will be available on PlayStation 5 and its above-mentioned Bravia XR TV models by the end of January 2022.
