Planning to get the PS5 from abroad? Here's where it's going to be the cheapest
If you are planning to ask a friend or a relative to get you the new PS5 from abroad, it's the cheapest in Japan, Canada and the US. It is actually the most expensive in India.
It was just last week that Sony finally revealed the price of the much-awaited PlayStation 5 (PS5) gaming console in India along with the prices of the other accessories and some of the games.
The India prices of the PS5, starting from ₹39,990 for the Digital Edition, was more or less in line with what people were expecting and also because the global prices have been out for a while. While we still do not know when the PS5 is going to launch in India, what we do know is - exactly how much the PS5 costs in other markets and how the India prices compare to that.
Sony has officially announced all these prices, so there aren't any speculations at play here. However, if we already know the India prices, why does it matter how much other markets will be paying?

It's pretty simple, actually. Very often, prices in other markets actually might be lesser than what you are going to pay here. In that case, perhaps it is just a better idea to ask a relative or a friend travelling there to pick up the desired device for you. Many times, customs and other taxes aside, even direct currency conversions end up being cheaper.
Just to remind you, the PS5 costs ₹49,990 in India and the Digital Edition is priced at ₹39,990.
In the US, the PS5 is priced at $499.99, that's ₹36,718 approx. The Digital Edition is priced at $399.99 which is ₹29,374 approx.
For the UK, the PS5 is priced at 449.99 pounds which converts to ₹42,854 approx. The Digital Edition is priced at 359.99 pounds which is ₹34,283 approx.

All conversions have been made using Google's basic converter and the prices may vary slightly given the day and time you check them.
With these prices at hand, it looks like the PS5 is actually the most expensive in India, then the EU, then UK and finally Australia. If you are looking to ask someone to get the console for you, it's possibly the cheapest to get it from Japan, Canada or the US (just going by currency conversions).
The prices in India are higher due to taxes and duties on electronics like gaming consoles. And also given that we don't know the launch date for certain, you might want to make your plans accordingly.
