If only the November 19 release date is true, it means that Sony may have solved its trademark issue in India.

Sony has been keeping its Indian PlayStation fans waiting for a while now as it is yet to drop a release date for the PS5 console. The device has already been listed on the India website but there’s no indication when it will be reaching shelves. However, the wait might not be a long one for fans. The company earlier today briefly mentioned the release date on the India website – November 19, 2020. This was not just seen by some users on Twitter but was later confirmed by the website The Mako Reactor as well.

Although no price has been mentioned for the PlayStation 5 console, the website says it has separately reached out to Sony for a confirmation.

If only the November 19 release date is true, it means that Sony may have solved its trademark issue in India.

As per a report by the same publication, the first PS5 trade mark application in India was reportedly been filed by someone named Hitesh Aswani from Delhi. The trademark was filed on October 29 last year. Sony, however, filed an application for PS5 in February this year. The details are also visible on the Indian Government’s Public Search of Trade Marks website.

At the time of reporting, company’s trademark application for the PS5 and Aswani held an ‘opposed’ status. This happens when a third-party believes that a similar trademark is published in the Trade Marks Journal or is non-distinctive as per the patent and trade mark attorneys.

And in case you didn’t know, PS5 was trademarked in 2006 in Japan.
