Nowadays smartphones are not only limited to calling or texting, they have become an integral part of our life. We keep almost all of our important data, contacts, and other details in our phone. Hence, switching to a new smartphone can be a tedious task as we have to transfer our data from the old phone, setting up, and log into apps. While transferring data to a new phone is very important, erasing data from the old is equally important or it may be misused if it goes into the wrong hands. Whether you are passing it to another family member or friend, formatting your existing handset and erasing personal data is a must. However, deleting every data one-by-one is a hectic task, henec, you can simply reset your device. It will wipe all personal information on the smartphone, including logged in apps, photos, and your messages.

Resetting your Android phone is very quick and easy to perform. Though the process may slightly vary from handset to handset, it's not that tough though. Here's a handy guide to erase all the data from your Android phone. But do remember that before you begin the process, you must ensure that you have online (cloud) and offline backups of all the data on your smartphone.

How to factory reset your Android smartphone (Google Pixel/ Stock Android)

1. Open the Settings app on your phone and go to System or ‘About Phone' tab

2. You'll see Factory Reset or simply Reset options

3. Now, tap on Erase all data (factory reset) at the bottom of the list.

4. Read the instructions displayed and agree to erase all data.

5. Draw your unlock pattern or enter your PIN or passcode to authenticate the process.

6. Review the warning shown on the screen and erase all data from your phone. And, It's done!

How to factory reset your Samsung phone

Step 1:

Open the Settings app and head to Accounts and backup.

Step 2:

There tap on Manage accounts and look for your Samsung account in the list.  

Step 3:

Tap on your account and then select Remove account.

Step 4:

Now, go back to the main Settings menu, then tap on General management.

Step 5:

Scroll down the page and tap on Reset and then Factory data reset.

Step 6:

Now, draw your unlock pattern or enter your PIN or passcode. 

Step 7:

Tap Delete all to wipe all your data from the smartphone.
