The speculation around the iPhone 14 launch date have grown significantly last week especially after the delay by Apple suppliers in providing the components became public. The Chinese suppliers of the Cupertino-based tech giant have been struggling to reopen amid COVID-19 related restrictions in China. It was earlier believed that it could delay the manufacturing timelines for the iPhone 14, however Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that at that moment, delays were not being anticipated. It is interesting to take a look at the Apple iPhone launches over the past years. A quick glance highlights that in the last eight years, there have been only one instance where Apple held its event in the month of October. It was in 2020 due to the rising global pandemic. The rest of the seven times it was scheduled for September.

And not just anytime in September, it is always held in the second week of September. And at least 5 times, it was on the second Wednesday of September. But the last two years have clearly broken that format with the 2020's iPhone 12 lineup release coming in a different month and the 2021's iPhone 13 launch, while still in September, it was on the second Tuesday of the month, in the third week. So, what do the leaks suggest?

The leaks by iDropNews suggested that the Apple event launch could be on the 37th week of the year. This translates to the week of September 12th. Based on Apple's historic trends, the closest speculated date could be Tuesday, September 13. The reason Apple may not go for the second Wednesday of the month is because just like 2021, the second Wednesday falls quite early on September 7. However, do note that these are mere speculations and no official communication has been received from Apple regarding the launch dates.
