Oppo Find N foldable first look: Reminds us of Galaxy Z Fold 3

Oppo Find N is the company's first folding smartphone. Oppo says it has fixed fundamental issues of current-gen foldables.

The Oppo Find N is going to be the first foldable smartphone from Oppo! Oppo's Chief Product Office Pete Lau reveals in a letter to the press the company's first commercial folding smartphone. Although Lau does not reveal the exact specs, he shares a photo of the phone in its folded state. Additionally, he also hints at all the improvements Oppo made in comparison to existing foldables.

The Oppo Find N will be announced on December 15 at the Oppo Inno Day event and while India availability is unknown at the moment, we have a fair idea of what this phone could offer. The photo shows a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 lookalike with a massive hinge and possibly a triple camera system on the back. Silver is one of the many colours this phone will be available in.

Lau goes on to say that Oppo has been working for four years to refine the design and in the process, has managed to get rid regular foldable issues such as a crease practicality, a good design and a lightweight form factor.

"We believe that a good product must first be beautiful and pleasant – simple in design, natural and comfortable in material. It needs to offer powerful performance while maintaining an appropriate weight and size. Especially for a foldable device with a large-screen, it has to feel good in the hand. The Oppo Find N has achieved each of these,' says Lau.

“With the Find N, we have solved the main pain points in previous foldable smartphones, such as the crease in the display and overall durability of the device, by inventing perhaps the best hinge and display designs available today,” he adds.

These are bold claims and hence, we will have to wait for the final product to come out. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 dominates the foldable segment in terms of innovation, features and durability. Samsung, Huawei and Motorola are yet to get rid of the crease issue and durability is still a concern with foldable phones. Will Oppo's late entrance make the Find N the best folding phone yet?
