The Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G has been the company's flagship smartphone offering in India in 2021, and Oppo is keeping its promise of seeding the new Android 12 update. Just ahead of the New Year, Oppo has released the stable version of ColorOS 12 based on Android 12. Along with the Reno 6 Pro, Oppo is also delivering the same to the Reno 5 Pro 5G that got launched earlier this year.

The ColorOS 12 update has been available in beta for a while to several high-end Oppo smartphones. The current version available to Reno 6 Pro and Reno 5 Pro is deemed stable but users will need to download it by going to into Trial Version of the software update section. Note that Android 12 is still a new OS and there could be many apps yet to be optimised.

Android 12 for Oppo Reno 6 Pro, Reno 5 Pro

Note that Oppo's ColorOS 12 skin brings a couple of its own features and a different design theme. Hence, those expecting the Material You theme from the Pixel devices may be disappointed. However, the ColorOS 12 interface has its own design flair.

In India, the Oppo Reno 6 Pro and Oppo Reno 6 Pro Diwali Edition are getting the ColorOS 12 update based on Android 12. The Reno 5 Pro in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are getting the Android 12 update.

Following the Reno 6 Pro and Reno 5 Pro, Oppo is expected to release the Android 12 update for the Reno 6, Oppo A74 5G, and other high-end Oppo devices.

“After updating to the latest version, the operating system will do several actions to optimize your device automatically. It might lead to your device heating, lagging and fast battery draining. We recommend you to turn off the screen and charge your device for a whole night after it's updated success. Or keep using device and it will become normal within few days,” says Oppo.
