Vivo today announced that it will provide three years of Android update to select flagship smartphones. The company said that it will provide software support, which includes major OS upgrades and security updates to its X-series smartphones. However, this update will only be available for the X-series smartphones that the company will launch after July 2021.

Additionally, the company said that these updates will be delivered to the X-series smartphones in Europe, Australia and India only. As far as other markets and the X-series models that are not covered under this policy are concerned, Vivo said that those smartphones will continue to receive regular Android security updates.

The company said that this announcement is a part of its commitment to bring new products to its consumers.

"Featuring top of the line hardware, the X series flagship phones are built to last – and we want to make sure that our customers get software support that lives up to their expectations," Vivo's Senior Vice President and CTO, Yujian Shi, said on the occasion.

"We always innovate with the user in mind. With this pledge, we are making a promise to our customers that they will be able to enjoy a premium smartphone experience for an extended period and continue to benefit from the latest software features," he added.

The announcement follows the launch of the Vivo Y52s t1. For those of you who don't know, the phone comes with a 6.58-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC that is coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage. It has a 48MP + 2MP dual-camera setup at the back and an 8MP selfie camera. It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging technology.
