Xiaomi working on a new Mi 10 phone with SD 870 chip

Even as Mi 11 series has gone official, Xiaomi is still working on new phones under its Mi 10 lineup. According to a new leak, Xiaomi is working on a new Mi 10 handset with Qualcomm's new chip.

Leakster Digital Chat Station in a Weibo post (via AndroidAuthority), the upcoming Mi 10 handset will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 870 processor. As of now, there is no word on other specifications and official release date.

Xiaomi's Mi 10 series runs on Snapdragon 865 processor, Qualcomm's flagship chip for 2020.

That said, Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 870 processor just this month. The new chip is said to be an improved version of the Snapdragon 865 processor. The new processor comes with Qualcomm Kyro 585 CPU prime core with a clock speed of 3.2Ghz, slightly higher than Snapdragon 865+'s 3.1Ghz. Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon 870 5G will deliver better gameplay, courtsey the Snapdragon Elite gaming experiences.

The Snapdragon 870 chip offers to support up to 1440p class panels at up to 144Hz (or 4K at 60 Hz) along with HDR10+. It also features Spectra 480 ISP, which is the same as the Snapdragon 865+. It comes with support for sensors up to 200 MP, 8K video capture at 30 fps (and 4K at 120 fps) along with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
