The stunning Draconid meteor shower will be visible on October 8 and 9 in the night sky. For the unaware, Draconid is a major meteor shower event that takes place in the month of October. This month will bring one more meteor shower called Orionid, which is caused by the tail of Halley's comet. The Draconid meteor shower is caused by the comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner. They are known as Draconid because it is believed that the comet comes from the constellation Draco. During the meteor shower, Earth is hit by millions of small icy rocks which disintegrate from the parent comet. These small space rocks burn up long before they can reach the surface and what we get to see is the long streaks of fire in the sky as they burn up in the atmosphere.

Hunter's Moon, the first full moon of October, also peaks on those days. Presence of such a bright celestial object in the sky can dim the brightness and splendor of the Draconid meteor shower.
