Bharti Airtel is going to cover Covid-19 vaccines costs for all employees, dependent family members

As per an internal communication circulated by Airtel, all employees have been told that the cost will be borne by the company as per government eligibility criteria following the procedures and timelines approved by the authorities.

Bharti Airtel has announced that it is going to bear the cost for Covid-19 vaccines for all its employees and their dependent family members. With this announcement, Airtel joins the likes of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) and Infosys Ltd who have also promised to pay for the vaccines for their staff.

As per an internal communication circulated by Airtel, all employees have been told that the cost will be borne by the company as per government eligibility criteria following the procedures and timelines approved by the authorities, according to a Mint report.

Airtel has also said that it is looking to partner with healthcare providers who can vaccinate the employees. “You will hear more on this as and when the government releases further guidelines," Airtel wrote.

Adding that - “Airtel will cover the covid vaccination cost for employees and their dependant family members basis your insurance declaration, as part of our continued focus on health and wellness.”.

Several other companies have also announced that they are going to cover the vaccination costs for their employees. The vaccination drive in India has been expanded to include those aged 60 and older and people above 45 who are suffering from multiple health conditions.

RIL announced on March 5 that they would cover vaccination costs for its 139,000 employees and their families including spouse, children and parents. The company expects to vaccinate around 900,000 people including the family members of employees.

ICICI Bank has also said that they are going to reimburse the costs of vaccines for all employees and their dependent family members. State Bank of India, TCS, Infosys, Accenture, RPG Group etc have also announced immunisation plans for their employees, as has Capgemini and Cognizant.
