Drive car, bike? Get this AWESOME super app for vehicle services soon; all services coming online
A new 'super' app will make payments, accessing and renewing car, bike, other vehicles' related documents like driver licence, learner driver licence, driver licence renewal, registration certificate (RC), transfer vehicle ownership, fitness certificate and more, a lot easier online in one place.
If you drive, then know that your driver licence, learner driver licence, driver licence renewal, registration certificate (RC), transfer vehicle ownership, fitness certificate or permit, address change and other woes will soon end, according to a report. Owning a vehicle in India can be very helpful if you can afford it, especially in regions with poor public transport services. However, moving to another state means going through various government websites for relevant documents, which can be less than ideal – the same holds true for various apps created by different transport departments. However, these woes are about to come to an end with the government reportedly preparing to launch a new ‘Super' app that will unify all these functions in one single application.
The ‘Super' app is being created by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) as a means of bringing all the vehicle ownership and driving licence-related services from the various State and Union Territories that have different websites with different layouts and procedures to be followed on a single platform, according to the Times of India. The app is being billed as a one-stop solution for users.

While users will be able to access licence-related information and functions on the app, they will also be able to sign in and pay taxes, get a duplicate registration certificate (RC) issued, transfer the ownership of the vehicle and get a fitness certificate or permit, according to the report. Similarly, they can also apply for a learner driver licence for themselves or their dependents, or even apply to renew an older one. Other functions like issuing of NOCs and making changes to their address can also be completed using the app.
Users could even be reminded about documents that need to be renewed or payments that are due, including challans, the payment of which will be facilitated by the app, according to the report, which cites an NIC official stating that the app will be available in English and Hindi to begin with. The app is thus expected to streamline the process of applying for various documents, renewing other ones as well as making payments. However, there is currently no word on when the app is likely to be released in the country.
