Chrome’s new Data Saver mode will cut your data usage by 70%
Chrome’s latest update for Android devices is further data saving: up to 70% according to Product Manager Tal Oppenheimer.
Chrome's latest update for Android devices will save you up to 70% data , according Chrome Product Manager Tal Oppenheimer.
By removing all the images on a slow-loading page, and giving the user the option of whether or not to visualise them, Chrome claims to be able to save as much as 70% more data. Oppenheimer explains "After the page has loaded, you can tap to show all images or just the individual ones you want, making the web faster and cheaper to access on slow connections."
This data saver mode will first be available in India and Indonesia, before being rolled out more globally in the coming months. There is as yet no word as to when or if it will be available for iOS.
