Dropbox shared a preview of its Project Infinite in a YouTube video which makes Google Drive seem way behind on technology.

Instead of syncing files to your computer hard disk and storing them locally, Project infinite syncs files only when you click on them.

Now you'll have two type of icons in your Dropbox folder on Windows or Mac. While the ones marked with a green tick are stored locally, the ones with a cloud icon are like shortcuts. Clicking on the latter will open the file in your computer and sync any changes to the file safely stored away in the cloud.

This feature doesn't just feel intuitive, but also saves up on your local storage by keeping the files in the cloud despite providing immediate access to them.
