Farmville gets Candy-Crushed!
It seems Facebook’s most obsessive game has been outplayed. A few days ago, a little-known game, Candy Crush Saga, displaced Farmville 2 as the most played game on social media and mobile platforms. Gagandeep Singh Sapra reports.
If you have a Facebook account, you would be familiar with the phenomenon of friends who send you requests for manure, vegetables and other stuff for their farms. The obsession with FarmVille, they say, has brought many a Facebook friendship to a quick end.
It seems the social network's obsessive game has been outplayed. A few days ago, a little-known game, Candy Crush Saga, displaced Farmville 2 as the most played game on social media and mobile platforms.
The game from King.com was a shocker for Zynga, Farmville's maker. The last time we checked, there were more than 10 million people across the globe playing it.
Candy Crush puts you in a fairy land where you have a puzzle to solve with candies. If you match three, four or five similar candies, the rows and columns disappear, and the app (application) eggs you on from one level to other. In case you run out of 'moves' or "lives", you can buy these at the app store (for real money).
Interestingly, CandyCrush scores over Farmville on another front — the latter is not available for mobile devices, and can be played only on Facebook.
The now-staid FarmVille2, in peaceful contrast, lets you build farms, grow crops, decorating the farms, earn experience points — all about showing off your "skills" to people in your friends list - and others on the net.
