TikTok ban has surely left several million users hunting for a decent platform for creating and sharing short videos. While Indian apps like Chingari and Trell are slowly gaining popularity, some big players are also trying their hands on it. The latest is Gaana with a new short video making feature called ‘HotShots'. As explained by the firm, HotShots “allows Indian content enthusiasts an intuitive, seamless and snappy tools to create & share short viral videos and stories with more than 150 million strong audience base.”
The company says that it gives emerging and established influencers an opportunity to move to an Indian platform. So, TikTok influencers who are probably searching for a popular platform, may have this as one of their options. The app also includes something called ‘HotShot Challenges' in the performing arts like music, comedy & dance. “the app would offer both the scale and the infrastructure to reach a massive audience who thrive on digital entertainment,” adds Gaana.
You can see Hotshot clips from inside the Gaana app. The option can be seen at the bottom bar alongside options like Podcast, Home, Buzz and My Music. Tapping on it will begin showing you short videos. In case you want to skip, you just need to scroll up from the bottom to see the next video. With each video you can see the name of the creator, tapping on which will open his/her profile. There's also a ‘Follow' button besides it. In addition you can see the video sharing option, Like, track used in the video and the camera icon below using which you can create short videos. However, for most, the camera feature is under the ‘Coming Soon' banner and is not functional.
