High-tech product releases announced the week ending June 8 include the Nintendo Wii U games console, Sony's NEX-C3 camera, a 3D display for gamers, the PS Vita portable games console, and the ViewSonic ViewBook 730 tablet.

A new gaming console that puts a touch screen in the controller
The Wii U Nintendo's latest gaming console. The new console is teamed with a hybrid controller that combines a 6.2' HD touch screen with motion-sensing capabilities. The controller also has a built-in gyroscope and accelerometer, and features an inward-facing camera, 'rumble feature,' microphone and speakers. The Nintendo Wii U is due to be released in 2012. No price has been announced.

Cheap PlayStation Display to ease gamers into the world of 3D
Sony launched a relatively inexpensive 24' full high-definition stereoscopic display (CECH-ZED1) in the hope of boosting its PS3 3D gaming empire. The 3D-capable screen is bundled with a pair of active shutter LCD glasses, a HDMI cable and a copy of sci-fi first person shooter Resistance 3 from Insomniac Games for PlayStation 3. Sony's 3D display bundle is priced at $499.99 and will be available in Japan, North America, Europe/PAL territories and Asia in fall. Additional 3D glasses are priced at $69.99 per pair.

A next-generation portable games console
Sony revealed its next-generation PlayStation Portable Entertainment System (NGP) will be called the PlayStation Vita, or PS Vita for short. The PS Vita brings features from both Sony's PSP and PlayStation3 entertainment systems to offer users rich gaming experiences and enhanced social connectivity. The device will be launched worldwide at the end of 2011 and will be available in two versions: the WiFi Model will be priced at 24,980 Yen, $249 and €249 while the 3G/WiFi version will cost 29,980 Yen, $299 and €229.

A low-cost tablet that doesn't compromise on features
The ViewSonic ViewBook 730 is an inexpensive Android tablet for 'value seekers.' The tablet has a 7' display and runs on Android 2.2. It offers a 1Ghz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 1080p video playback, HDMI connectivity, VGA webcam, stylus input, and support for WiFi and Bluetooth. The ViewBook 730 will be available at the end of June for $249.99.
