Nagarajan, Lal get Borlaug Award for 2005

Wheat scientist S Nagarajan and soil scientist Rattan Lal received this year's Norman E Borlaug Award for their contributions to agricultural science.
Borlaug, who is currently in India to attend the IARI centenary celebrations, gave away the prize to the winners.
The award has been instituted by Coromandel Fertilisers, a part of Murugappa Group, to recognise outstanding research and contributions in the field of agriculture, environment and extension by Indian scientists.
Nagarajan, currently the director of Indian Agricultural Research Institute, has been chosen for his contributions in the advancement of wheat research.
US-based Lal has been acknowledged for contribution to the development of integrated natural resource management including to the concept of shifting cultivation.
Presently, Lal is a professor of soil science at the Ohio State University, Columbus USA.
