New Google Docs update just made navigating much easier

We all use Google Docs for our daily chores. Now the service just got updated with a handy new 'outline' feature that lets you jump onto different sections of a document in a snap, doing away the need to scroll.

The feature essentially comes in handy when you are browsing through lengthy documents such case studies or thesis, as it lets you hop onto one section to another and save valuable time in the process. The update is now available on both Android as well as desktops.

On desktops, users will see a new Outline panel on the left which shows the header sections of a document, very similar to what a table of contents look like. Click on any particular header in the document, and you'll be taken to that particular section with a single click. Users can enable the feature by going to Tools > Document outline.

The outline updates in real time as soon as you add new headers to your document. You can even remove items from the outline by putting your cursor over them and clicking the X button.

The feature is also available on Android devices, which pops up as soon as you start scrolling through any document. All you need to do is tap on a small navigation button to see an outline of the document.

Sadly, iOS users will be deprived of this feature as Google hasn't announced when the feature will be available on mobile devices from Apple.
