OnePlus 7 series will launch in India on May 14. Ahead of the official launch, OnePlus has already disclosed some of the key features of the smartphone. From HDR 10+ screen to triple-rear camera setup, we already know a lot of things about the new OnePlus 7 Pro.

OnePlus is evidently making some bold changes with OnePlus 7 Pro as it now aims to take on a new lot of affordable premium phones from rivals including Samsung (Galaxy S10e) and Apple (iPhone XR). While OnePlus is expected to compete with competitive set of specifications and a new design, there are certain features that it will miss out on.

OnePlus fans have long demanded support for wireless charging. The company, however, has chosen to skip the feature. Despite embracing glass panels, deemed conducive for wireless charging, OnePlus has said it will skip wireless charging on OnePlus 7 series. Earlier this year, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said, "Wireless charging is far inferior," referring to the company's new Warp fast charging technology.

IP certification

OnePlus 7 series is going to have some sort of water resistance but it will not have the industry standard, IP certification, for the same. A lot of flagship phones now come with IP68 or IP67 certification for water and dust resistance. The IP68 rating ensures the phone can be submerged up to 1.5m under water for up to 30 minutes. The certification also means the phone has resistance to dust, dirt and sand. OnePlus has clarified the certification adds more cost to the device.

3.5mm headphone jack

At one point, OnePlus mocked Apple for removing 3.5mm headphone jack on iPhones. Later, not only OnePlus embraced iPhone's notch display but also did away with 3.5mm headphone jack with OnePlus 6T. The latest OnePlus 7 Pro is going to skip the 3.5mm headphone jack as well. The company will instead launch an improved Type-C Bullets for better audio experience.
