Music streaming service Saavn has announced the launch of its app for devices running on Windows 10 as part of a move to drive its user base to 25 million by the yearend.
Saavn's global chief operating officer Mahesh Narayanan said Windows leads the market for desktop operating systems with more than one billion PCs running on it. "Windows is still the leader on the desktop space, and we will now have a much larger audience,' he said.
"And with Windows 10, we're able to provide the exact same experience on the phone, the desktop, and the tablet - whatever device you have, you'll get a consistent experience with just one app.'
The streaming service has around 17 million monthly active users worldwide, and Saavn expects this number to touch 25 million with the launch of the Windows 10 app.
"Smartphone sales are booming and we have seen similar trends in our user base. There has been a three-time increase in streaming on our platform and this will only grow as more people come online,' Narayanan said.
Music listeners on Windows 10 will have access to Saavn's core products and features, including phonetic search and dynamic bit-rate streaming.
A Windows mobile app will be available when Microsoft makes Windows 10 available for smartphones later in the year.
Additional features will be launched in the coming months, including Saavn Social features (tag, chat, follow and share), Saavn Radio and Saavn Pro, for online and offline listening.
Last month, Saavn closed a $100 million (about ₹634 crore) funding round, led by Tiger Global Management. It said the capital will be used to drive long-term product development and aggressive customer acquisition.
Saavn raised about $10 million in two earlier rounds of funding.
