In an expected turn of events, the upcoming Turing phone will be ditching Android for Sailfish OS. The manufacturer - Turing Robotics Industries has officially sent out emails to customers who've already pre-ordered the smartphone. In the email, the company notifies them about the change, that when the smartphone starts shipping in April it'll come pre-loaded with Sailfish OS instead of Android which was earlier promised.

"Many of you have asked numerous times through our Facebook fan page as well as emailed us about our OS development. We can now confirm that TRI has chosen to drop

Android and use Jolla's Sailfish OS. Sailfish OS is now running perfectly on the Turing Phone and we have started the final OS software testing phase," reads the email.

Sailfish OS is an operating system created by former engineers at Nokia under the brand name Jolla. The brand more or less ceases to exist who've apparently struggled to ship products running its OS.

Turing on the other hand justifies the move by saying that its forthcoming smartphone will still be able to run Android apps on Sailfish OS 'without issue'. These are rather bold claims from a company who earlier promised that the device will start shipping in the first quarter. And now the company has made us all the more sceptical by suddenly revealing that the smartphone won't be running Android.
