WhatsApp Business rolls out QR codes, catalog sharing
WhatsApp Business users can now display QR codes for customers to scan and engage with them on the app.
WhatsApp has announced new features for its business app. WhatsApp Business is getting support for QR codes, and catalogue sharing as well.
WhatsApp introduced QR codes on its app last week. WhatsApp users can now scan and share QR codes to add contacts. This feature is now rolling out to the WhatsApp Business app as well. WhatsApp Business users can now display their QR code on its storefront, product packaging or receipt.
WhatsApp also shared an example of Ki Mindful Wearing, an activewear brand in Brazil, who are placing these QR codes on packages and product tags. Consumers can simply scan the QR code and start chatting with that business on WhatsApp. The chat will open to a pre-populated message that is created by the business on WhatsApp.
Catalogs arrived on the WhatsApp Business app last year. It lets businesses display their goods and services. WhatsApp said over 3 million users in India view a business catalog each month. WhatsApp is now allowing businesses to share catalogs and individual items as links on websites, Facebook, Instagram and other platforms. Businesses can simply copy the link and share wherever they want to increase their presence.
Other than these two features, WhatsApp has also rolled out new animated sticker packs dedicated to businesses. The ‘Open for Business' sticker packs will be available on WhatsApp Business and all WhatsApp users as well. The animated sticker packs can be found on the sticker section. WhatsApp had rolled out animated stickers just yesterday to all users.
The latest WhatsApp Business features are rolling out to all users globally including India. At present WhatsApp Business has over 50 million users on the app with more than 15 million monthly users in India itself.
