WhatsApp disappearing messages feature was rolled out not too long ago. It allows users to make their WhatsApp messages disappear for any particular contact after a specific time. This is an automatic feature which ensures it removes chats as per the requirement of the user. If your contact has turned on the WhatsApp disappearing chat option on, then there is no other way but to let the chat go. You can't save the WhatsApp message unless you choose to switch off the disappearing chats altogether.

Undoubtedly, disappearing messages help us message more privately, but at the cost of losing some important messages too when the mode is enabled. If you want to read any of the shared messages later, that won't be possible. But it seems like things are going to change soon! WhatsApp is working on an additional feature that will allow users to keep the important messages from disappearing chats. This can be helpful in case you want to keep the information that may be used in the future such as phone numbers, contact details, maybe a heartfelt message that you don't want loose.

"When users share a very important message in a disappearing chat and they do not want to lose it, they will be able to keep it by preventing its expiration thanks to kept messages: in other words, you can prevent some disappearing messages to disappear in a future version of WhatsApp," the WhatsApp updates tracker WaBetaInfo report informed about the new upcoming feature. Though, the same Kept Messages feature was found in the previous beta of WhatsApp.

How does WhatsApp Keep messages feature work?

The WaBetaInfo report shared a screenshot along with the upcoming update, which suggests that WhatsApp is planning to introduce a new section right within Contact Info and Group Info that lists all kept messages. If that happens, this will allow users to easily read all the saved messages from the disappearing chats later. “Since everyone in the chat can decide to un-keep those messages, WhatsApp is now planning to make it easier to find them, so they are developing this section,” the latest report reads.

Well, sadly this feature is still under development and when it will be rolled out to all the WhatsApp users is still unknown.
