Chingari co-founder Sumit Ghosh has said that the company is working hard to keep up with surging users. He also promised that the application will receive a new UX, bug fixes, and scalable infra among others in the future.

Chingari is now focusing only on videos and news, for now. Ghosh said that the news will be now only 1-minute short bulletin feeds.

Chingari is one of the Indian applications that has gained huge traction following the ban on as many as 59 China-linked applications. The platform, which offers a TikTok-like interface, recently went past 10 million downloads on Google Play Store.

Last week, Ghosh revealed that about 148 million videos were watched on Chingari and 3.5 million videos were liked. The application also garnered 11 million users. The company aims to hit 100 million users by the end of this month.

Ghosh earlier revealed that the Chingari app recorded around 100,000 downloads per hour at one point. Chingari app also saw 500,000 downloads within just 72 hours.

As said earlier, Chingari isn't the only Indian internet firm to register a big surge in usage after the ban on TikTok and other applications. Roposo, another Indian social media app, recorded a userbase jump by 22 million in just two days after the TikTok ban.

Bolo Indya registered over 2.5 lakh downloads within 24 hours of the ban. The app is also seeing active users spending over 62 minutes daily.

ShareChat, a popular vernacular-focused social media app, recently launched a TikTok alternative ‘Moj'. The new platform has also surged in downloads to 1 million on Google Play Store.
