Does Windows 11 tabbed File Explorer irritate you? Know how to disable it

Microsoft has brought several promising new features to Windows 11 including new Task Manager UI, App Folders in Start Menu, Overflow Menu in Taskbar and so on. The tech giant has now enabled tabs in File Explorer with the Windows 11 22H2 update, however, many of you might not like it. The tabbed UI in File Explorer is raw, buggy, and lacks many features. So if you do not want to face tabbed Explorer's issues, you can disable it and restore the previous UI. Read ahead and learn how to disable tabs in File Explorer on Windows 11.

Step 1:

To disable the tabbed UI in Windows 11 2H22 File explorer; start with downloading ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files.

Step 2:

Now, click on the Win + X tabs and select Terminal (Admin).

Step 3:

Next, switch Windows Terminal to Command Prompt profile by clicking Ctrl + Shift + 2 or you can click the arrow-down button at the top of the window.

Step 4:

Head to the folder comprising the extracted files using the CD command. For example, if you have extracted ViveTool to C:\Vive, then type CD C:\Vive.

Step 5:

Now, Type vivetool /disable /id:37634385 and Enter.

Step 6:

Again, type vivetool /disable /id:36354489 and Enter. 

Step 7:

Once done, restart your computer and the Tabbed UI will be disabled. 

If you want to access the tabbed File Explorer, you can follow the above mentioned steps and replace disable with enable in the commands on steps 5 and 6. The new Windows 11 version has also introduced enhanced phishing protection. This new feature warns users when they type their Windows password on any suspicious website or app. As the cybercrimes frequently target users and carry out malicious activities, Windows login credentials have become vulnerable for data theft or ransomware attacks.

Hackers often use malicious links and apps to steal users’ data, hence, this new feature has been rolled out to protect users from such attacks. The new feature 'Enhanced Phishing Protection' warns users when they enter their Windows password on a website or enter into a malicious application.
