Activate Facebook Protect now and avoid getting locked out. Yes, you read that right. It is an alert for Facebook account holders. You need to do it as soon as possible as the social networking website is locking Facebook accounts of users who have not activated Facebook Protect yet. As per a report by Gadgets Now, some Facebook users were required to activate Facebook Protect with two factor authentication by March 17 and the platform is reportedly locking out their profile if they haven't done so. Such users have received a notification from Facebook saying, "Turn on Facebook Protect to unlock your account." As per the report, the notification further read, "Account locked on March 17, 2022. We've taken this precaution to keep your account secure while you enable additional security measures."

Do you know what is Facebook Protect? There are certain people in the public eye who can become hacking targets on social media platforms, including Facebook. Accounts that face increased risk may need additional protection, that's why Facebook Protect has been created. Facebook Protect helps these high-target accounts adopt stronger security protections by simplifying security features like two-factor authentication. It also provides additional security protections for people's accounts and Pages, including monitoring for potential hacking threats.

In case you are not able to access Facebook Protect but want to improve your account security then you can turn on Facebook two-factor authentication. With two-factor authentication, you can add additional security protections to your account by logging in using a security key, login codes from a third-party authentication app, or by getting text message (SMS) codes sent to your mobile phone.

Here is how you can turn on Facebook Protect and two-factor authentication:

How to turn on two-factor authentication

1. Open your Facebook account and go to your Security and Login Settings.

2. Scroll down to use two-factor authentication and click Edit.

3. Choose the security method you want to add and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. When you set up two-factor authentication on Facebook, you’ll be asked to choose one of three security methods:

Tapping your security key on a compatible device.

Login codes from a third party authentication app.

Text message (SMS) codes from your mobile phone.
