Amazon Prime Video now supports Netflix-like profiles: How to create one

Just like Netflix, Amazon also lets users create profiles for Prime Video. This feature was first launched this March in select markets including India. Amazon Prime Video profiles were made available globally just last week.

Prime Video profiles were long due by Amazon but better late than never. This feature is very helpful especially if there are multiple users on a single Amazon Prime Video account. It’s also apt for families with kids as they can control and restrict content.

Amazon Prime Video profiles can be created and managed on different platforms like its Android and iOS apps, Fire TV app and Android TV as well. Here’s how you can create Amazon Prime Video user profiles.

Android, iOS apps

Open the Amazon Prime Video app on your phone

Select ‘My Stuff’ from the bottom bar of the app

Tap on your profile icon and click the ‘+’ icon to create a new profile.

Android TV, Fire TV

Open the Prime Video app on your TV.

Tap on your profile icon from the drop-down menu on the app.

Select the ‘+’ icon to create a new Prime Video profile.

Amazon Prime Video users can manage, edit and remove user profiles from the same section itself. Amazon Prime Video supports up to six profiles on one account. This includes one default primary profile and five additional profiles. Each Prime Video profile will have personalised content, recommendations, watch history, season progress and watch list.

Kids profiles can also be created on Amazon Prime Video. This profile will have access to only age-appropriate content for ages 12 and below. Search results and suggestions will also be filtered in the kids profiles. However, kids profiles will be able to access all downloads on the Prime Video app including those from an adult’s profile. Parents can still block purchasing titles on kids profiles.
