BHIM or Bharat Interface for Money is a digital payment method app that works on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system. It allows users to make various transactions from sending and requesting money with a Virtual Payment Address (VPA) on a real-time basis to scanning QR code. You can send/receive money instantly on all 365 days in a year on a 24/7 basis. It is even accessible on bank holidays. It was developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).and acts as a aggregator for all UPI-based services offered by banks. First download the BHIM mobile application from Google Play Store. Note that you can only avail on android phone as it is not available on iPhones yet.
Once installed, proceed to set up your profile on BHIM UPI app and by choosing your preferred language and verify your phone number linked with the bank account.
Now wait for the verification process to be completed.
Once the verification is done, set up a four digit passcode.
Now, select your bank from the dropbox and the app will automatically pick up your details using your phone number.
Now, select your primary bank account that you want to use for all your transactions and your profile will be ready for transactions.
Now, you can send/ request or scan/pay by tapping any of the available options. Note that if you want to pay via mobile number then it can only be possible when the receiver’s phone number is verified.
To begin with the transactions, type in their phone number or UPI id or bank details and add the amount to be transferred.
The app will prompt you to enter your MPIN or a four or a six digit code that authenticates the transaction and your money will be transferred. Likewise, you can even request money from someone, using their phone number.
If you want to pay via QR code, then you will have to scan the two dimensional black and white barcode and make the payment.
