This is called an e-challan, which is a computer-generated challan that is issued to those drivers who have been caught breaking traffic rules. It is a sophisticated software application comprising Android based mobile app and web interface, developed for the purpose of providing a comprehensive solution for Transport Enforcement Officers and Traffic Policemen.

How to pay Traffic challan online?

Step 1:

You will need to visit the digital traffic website: echallan.parivahan.gov.in. Then tap on the ‘check challan status’ and proceed. 

Step 2:

Now enter your challan number, vehicle number, or the Driving License (DL) number to check the current status of your challan. 

Step 3:

Ensure to enter the details of the option you’ve selected above along with the captcha provided there and click on ‘get details.’

Step 4:

This will show the details and status of your challan. You should note that if there is no challan issued, then the row will remain empty. Also, you can also track the total number of challans filed against your vehicle till now. 

Step 5:

Well, if your challan is visible on the screen then you can make online payments with the portal. You need to scroll down, and you will get the ‘payment option’.

Step 6:

Tap on ‘Pay now’ and select the mode of payment.

Step 7:

After the successful completion of the payment, you will receive a 'Payment Successful' message along with the transaction ID on your e-challan. You should keep it handy for future reference.
