DigiLocker, a cloud-based app for the public, was launched by the government to keep official documents like driving license, Aadhaar card, PAN card, car registration certificate, educational certificates, birth certificate etc in a Digital form. This has freed the people from carrying around their documents, as they can access the digital version anywhere anytime. The documents on DigiLocker are treated by all government authorities in similar fashion as the physical documents.
The DigiLocker app linked to a person’s Aadhaar number, provides users with 1GB of cloud storage to store their documents. The cloud storage is secured and safe as it uses a 256 bit secure socket layer (SSL) encryption for all the information transmitted.
